An unexpected innovation is catching all the eyes across the world. A bridge that spots its flaws has been proactively designed by the Camozzi, Ingersoll, and Renzo Piano in Italy. Undeniably, the innovation is calling all the interest because of the potential inclusion of artificial intelligence and robots eyes in the formation of the bridge. The imagination has come into the realm of the Camozzi group and the Italian Institute of Technology. Well, this indeed sounds very much interesting because the features can ensure the safety of the new bridge in Genoa. The causes behind the collapse of the Genoa Bridge in Italy in 2018 are still not clear and it created a radar in front of the locals. Heavy traffic loads and corrosion from the salty air, high rising river waters, and factory pollution altogether played a significant part in this. Hence, the architect Renzo Piano was in the search of a system to replace the traditional ways of inspection and implement automatic sensing features to the bridge that can detect faults.
The robotic system will ensure the integrity of the infrastructure through the cameras and sensors along with the data processing algorithms. The eyes of the robots with the help of AI will continuously inspect the infrastructure and will detect the risks for the bridge. A total of four robots on the sides of the bridge has been installed among which two of them will be authorized to inspect the lower surface of the deck and process the data (Anna Bonanomi, 2021). The rest two will be directed to clean the wind barriers and solar panels. Such robotics inspection feature is breaking the grounds of the innovation and flourishing the specification of the AI and robotics.
Now the question arises how the robots will be operated?
“The robots will be operated from the control room with the help of Wi-Fi network”- reported by Camozzi Group.
Even the robots will capture more than twenty-five thousand pictures of the undercarriage every eight hours that enable machine vision software to identify anomalies. Therefore, the outstanding inclusion of technology in the architectural aspects and infrastructure is going to influence the world to ensure safety.
